Lefamulin dosing information
Usual Adult Dose for Pneumonia:
IV: 150 mg IV every 12 hours for 5 to 7 days
Oral: 600 mg orally every 12 hours for 5 days
Comments:
-May switch from IV to oral dosing to complete the course of therapy
Use: For the treatment of community-acquired bacterial pneumonia due to susceptible Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible isolates), Haemophilus influenzae, Legionella pneumophila, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydophila pneumoniae
What other drugs will affect lefamulin?
Sometimes it is not safe to use certain medications at the same time. Some drugs can affect your blood levels of other drugs you take, which may increase side effects or make the medications less effective.
Lefamulin can cause a serious heart problem. Your risk may be higher if you also use certain other medicines for infections, asthma, heart problems, high blood pressure, depression, mental illness, cancer, malaria, or HIV.
Many drugs can affect lefamulin. This includes prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Not all possible interactions are listed here. Tell your doctor about all your current medicines and any medicine you start or stop using.
