What is balsam Peru and castor oil topical?
Balsam Peru and castor oil topical (for the skin) is a combination medicine used to treat skin wounds, bed sores, diabetic skin ulcers, and other skin conditions resulting from decreased blood flow or skin grafts.
balsam Peru and castor oil topical helps reduce odor and creates a protective layer over skin wounds.
Balsam Peru and castor oil topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Important Information
Follow all directions on your medicine label and package. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all your medical conditions, allergies, and all medicines you use.
Before taking this medicine
You should not use balsam Peru and castor oil topical if you are allergic to balsam Peru, castor oil, or petroleum jelly (Vaseline).
Ask a doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Do not use balsam Peru and castor oil topical on a child without medical advice.
How should I use balsam Peru and castor oil topical?
Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor.
Do not take by mouth. Topical medicine is for use only on the skin.
Wash your hands before and after applying this medicine.
Apply a thin layer of medicine to the wound. Balsam Peru and castor oil is usually applied at least 2 times daily. Follow your doctor’s instructions.
After applying the medicine, you may cover the wound with a bandage dressing, or leave the wound open to the air. Your doctor will tell you whether you should cover the wound or not.
If you need to remove the medicine, gently wash it off with water.
Call your doctor if the condition you are treating with this medicine does not improve, or if it gets worse while using this product.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not allow the medicine to freeze.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Apply the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not apply two doses at one time.
What happens if I overdose?
An overdose of balsam Peru and castor oil is not expected to be dangerous. Seek emergency medical attention or call 115 if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medication.
What should I avoid while using balsam Peru and castor oil topical?
Rinse with water if balsam Peru and castor oil topical gets in your eyes.
Avoid using other medications on the areas you treat with balsam Peru and castor oil unless your doctor tells you to.
Balsam Peru and castor oil topical side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
